Travis d’Arnaud missed a wedding — and nobody minded

Travis d’Arnaud has given new meaning to the term Wedding Crasher.

In early February, the Mets catcher boldly told The Posthe would be missing his best friend’s wedding in mid-October.

Why? The Mets would be in the middle of a playoff run, of course.

Those words proved to be prophetic as d’Arnaud homered in the Mets 8-3 win over the Cubs Wednesday night at Wrigley Field that completed a four-game sweep of the Cubs in the NLCS.

D’Arnaud was an important piece of the Mets’ offense in the series. He also crashed a home run on Saturday in the Game 1 win as the blast hit the Apple in center field at Citi Field. The Mets put a fabric Band-aid on the Apple to mark the spot of d’Arnaud’s blast.

That home run was hit at the exact same time his friend’s wedding was taking place in California. That friend, Jonathan Johnson, is an infielder in the Mets organization and grew up with d’Arnaud in Lakewood, Calif.

“He’s my best friend growing up,’’ d’Arnaud told The Post in the bedlam of the Mets champagne clubhouse. “I wish I could have been at the wedding, but this is so great.’’

The catcher has quietly blasted some big home runs for the Mets, lengthening the lineup batting in the sixth spot.

“My friends were pumped that I wasn’t there and we are in the playoffs,’’ d’Arnaud said with a smile.

His father, Lance, attended the wedding and ever so quietly was watching Game 1 on his phone when Travis homered, just as wedding toasts were taking place.

“I cheered, quietly,’’ Lance said Wednesday night by the visitor’s dugout at Wrigley Field two hours before the game.

He cheered a lot louder later when his son blasted his home run to right-center. And now it’s on to the World Series in either Kansas City or Toronto.

Seeing his best friend will have to wait a little while longer for d’Arnaud. There are more crashing home runs to be hit.
